Dead Man's Fingers is a deeply personal song that I (Drew) wrote for and as my wife following her father's death in 2019. The voice you hear in the song is my wife's talking to her father on his deathbed. She was struggling finding her the words for her final goodbyes, and when she finally did, she continued to struggle. The trouble with last words is they're never perfect, but they last forever. With this song I wanted to give merit to decision to remain true to herself and to convey that it is okay to be angry, sad, happy and grieving all at once, and that there's no good way to say goodbye.
